Game & Level Design Experience

Documentation & Wire-framing

I’ve created documentation for game designs as well as level designs for complex, large scale levels. I create the wire-frame imagery that I include in my documentation.

Floor Plans & Overarching Level Design

When I’m tackling a new level design I usually start with a floor plan. From there I’ll create documentation to package with it that has images and notes to help convey the full vibe of the scene.

Level Block Outs

After the level has been conceptualized I work on creating a simple 3D block out in the game engine. I have made these block outs myself as well as directed other artists to create them.

Puzzle Design

I have worked on puzzle games that required us to go a step further and create unique, interactive puzzles. These required their own set of documentation and specially designed assets. I would come up with puzzles as well as lead additional artists through the process.

Asset Design & Model Rotation Sheets

I have designed assets in a variety of art styles and functional complexity. I have also created model sheets for everything from structural environment pieces, to characters, and props.

Level Construction & Set Dressing

Once all the assets have gone down the 3D and design pipelines I usually end up building and set dressing the scene in the game engine.

Testing & Tweaking

Once the game is in a testable state I usually am involved in that process so that I can re-evaluate game balance and the overall player experience. Usually at this point the programming team has created custom fields in the engine that I can use to tweak the game balance.
